From \u201cwalk-on\u201d shot put and discus thrower for the University of Texas at Austin Track & Field Team, to a 4-year letter winner, Wendolynn graduated in 1996 with a Bachelor of Arts in sociology and embarked on a career as a Certified Personal Trainer while also competing on a national level in Powerlifting and locally competing in Bodybuilding and Olympic-style weightlifting. She eventually discovered her passion to teach individuals how to function at their highest physical potential. While working as a Personal Trainer, she engaged with individuals of all age groups and varying ability levels through one-on-one sessions, private coaching of middle\/high school throwing athletes, and she also conducted a middle school summer strength & conditioning program for several years. Her interest turned toward Physical Therapy when she had two different clients come to her for strengthening after just recently being released from physical therapy for different issues. Wendolynn\u2019s desire to serve her clients safely and to the best of her ability led her to conduct personal research to learn more about what the physical therapy program for these clients probably entailed so that she could better understand their current condition and not attempt to advance them too fast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It was this inquest that led her to an understanding that although a certified personal trainer is qualified to train an apparently healthy individual, a physical therapist is a kind of personal trainer for injured individuals who have lost some level of function and need skilled guidance to recover it. With that, Wendolynn realized that she had found the true calling that God had for her to serve the community, and she embarked on a journey of receiving formal education in the field of physical therapy. Initially, she became a Physical Therapist Assistant by graduating from Delgado Community College in New Orleans, LA in 2013. Instantly in love with the field, Wendolynn has been employed in almost all settings, including acute care, assisted living, skilled nursing, home health, inpatient rehab, and outpatient care. Her highest achievement as a PTA was earning recognition by the APTA with Advanced Proficiency in Orthopedics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As the years passed, Wendolynn began to get an itch to be more involved in the examination & evaluative process of patient care, so she pursued the steps to transition her Associate of Applied Science in Physical Therapy Assisting to a Doctorate of Physical Therapy. In August 2025, Wendolynn graduated from the PTA to DPT Bridge Program at The University of Texas Medical Branch (Galveston).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
While still a PTA, Wendolynn became certified as a Lymphedema Therapist, but was unable to fully invest in that specialty focus, however, now as a DPT, Wendolynn plans to delve more into a better understanding of the human lymphatic system to be able to bring more awareness and help individuals improve fluid balance to enhance recovery from injury and disease.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Wendolynn believes that treating injury is a matter of treating the whole person, which includes spirit, mind, body, and soul. Whether the patient is post-op or an athlete, Wendolynn is invested in educating them on their condition and encouraging them to play an active leading role in their recovery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Speaking of education, Wendolynn is a lifelong learner, and within one month of receiving her Doctorate of Physical Therapy, she enrolled in the Institute for Athlete Regeneration (IAR) Orthopedic Residency Program as the first step to expanding her knowledge and skillset on her journey to achieve specialty board-certification in Orthopedics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
