  • If you have a referral for therapy, please bring that as well.

How Long Is Each Appointment Going To Be?

Although every patient is different, the initial session usually lasts no longer than 1 hour. After that, each session could last 35-60 minutes.

The length of time will be determined by your unique needs, which our therapist will discuss with you. To begin, you’ll probably see your therapist once or twice a week, with your appointments becoming more spaced out as you proceed through treatment.

How Is My Progress Measured?

Tracking your pain and mobility levels as you go through your physical therapy program is the most visible approach to gauge your improvement and progress. This is why we use software that allows us to measure your progress by performing tests and evaluations at scheduled intervals during your plan of care at Absolute Physical Therapy. The outcomes of these tests and evaluations allow us to measure our performance against other therapy providers all over the country to help us identify our strengths and improve on areas of need. We are proud to say that Absolute Physical Therapy continually exceeds national outcomes!

What Should I Know About Physical Therapy?

Physical therapy is a medical, hands-on approach to relieving pain and restoring function. Physical therapists are medical experts in musculoskeletal and neurological conditions and work closely with physicians.

Our physical therapists evaluate your movement patterns, identify the cause of your pain, and work to eliminate it.

While every patient’s condition and pain is unique, our physical therapist will use a variety of gentle hands-on techniques, exercises, and equipment to relieve pain quickly and restore your function to optimum levels.

The overall goal is to restore pain-free mobility and function and to prevent the injury or pain from recurring.

Will Physical Therapy Hurt?

Physical therapy is not meant to hurt, but to relieve pain. However, as you restore your mobility, pain levels can fluctuate at times. You might experience some temporary soreness from using muscles that are weakened or recovering.

This is a normal response to therapy treatment. Good communication with your therapist will help minimize any discomfort. We want you on your way to quick pain relief and back to normal activities.

What Is The Difference Between Land And Aquatic Physical Therapy?

The major difference between aquatic physical therapy and land-based physical therapy is the buoyancy that supports the body in water. Buoyancy decreases stress on weight-bearing joints and helps to increase range of motion and mobility. The resistance of the water during aquatic therapy provides a safe environment for addressing balance, strength, postural deficits, amongst many others. Many patients with painful conditions tolerate aquatic therapy better than land therapy due to the reduced stress on the joints. To learn more about aquatic therapy, please visit our aquatic therapy page HERE.
